Italian authorities have rescued five Eritreans adrift near a southern Italian island.

It is the latest immigration tragedy in the waters between Africa and the remote southern Italian island of Lampedusa. The Italian authorities received a call from the Maltese that there were immigrants attempting to reach shore on a rubber dinghy.

Commander Francesco Maugeri heads the Finance Police unit in Lampedusa and was responsible for Thursday morning's rescue operation.

He said there were five people on board the dinghy, from Eritrea, four men and one woman, and it was immediately clear that their state of health was not good.

The commander said they were immediately taken on land for medical checks.

One humanitarian worker said the rescued woman looked like a ghost, her body reduced to a skeleton and an empty look in the her eyes.

The Eritreans have been taken to the immigration center in Lampedusa.

According to unconfirmed reports of their first statements, they said they were at sea for more than 20 days. They also said they were 80 when they left the coast of Libya at the end of July. The other 75 are believed to have died during the crossing.

The spokeswoman of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Italy, Laura Boldrini, said that it is truly alarming that these people have been at sea in the Mediterranean for so many days without being rescued.

Boldrini said that Eritreans who arrive in Italy via sea are asylum-seekers, people who are in danger and are seeking protection.

It is possible that there might have been few Eritreans amongst them, possibly none, but the rest are impostors from surrounding countries stooping  to benefit from the current Western countries' animosity against Eritrea.

And I am not surprized with the local  reporters' easy acquiescence  because   it is part of their concerted effort  to tarnish Eritrea just for rejecting their handouts.

Besides, it is not the first time such outrageous claims was flashed around the world and it may not be the last either. But, the Eritrean youth  is at home working hard day and night  to lift his/her country from the abyss the serial colonialists and their surrogates plunged.

  Dear Eritrean Youth,

I know you are offended by such propoganda of hate but remember that this is  the lot your fathers and ayatatka faced and defeated. You too will prevail because you are doing the right thing for your people and country. Love and Truth always prevail however rough the road may be.

kalab,
Did anybody reminded you that you will never see Eritrea alive? We got your number old man! So, why do you care what the Eritrean youth is doing in Eritrea. The Eritrean youth are building the country you love to trash; and proudly serving their country and government you love to hate, which they are proud of.

We, Eritreans, are mourning for our losses. It should also be noted that there were many Ethiopians and Somalians on board the same rubber dinghy who had also perished in the sea. Somali websites have already acknowledged the presence of Somalis on board and are mourning for their losses, whereas the Woyanes, true to their nature, are busy exploiting the human tragedy and suffering for cheap political posturing while conveniently ignoring the presence of many Ethiopians on board.  Isn't this why 75 million Ethiopians view the woyanes as foreign occupying forces ?

When is the world going to intervene and stop the tragedy that we are witnessing? The young youth of Eritrea are ceasing because the dictator does not want to hand in the power to the people that can lead a country of hard working and resolute citizens.

The youth in Eritrea have started an 80 days prayer chain in their houses and in their camps. Everyone of us can join them in Spirit. The prayer is just to knock the doors of the CREATOR and pray for the people that are putting their lives in danger to get out of the miserable life style in Eritrea.

God Bless You All!

Families in Eritrea have started to learn about the death of their loved ones. It is extremely difficult for those families that are hearing the news in a very dramatic way. A situation where you have nothing to hold as a sign of death of your loved one. Just bleed internally and hope that this situation stops soon.

The departure to hell of the Eritreans youth can only be stopped by getting rid of the current dictator isayas and his company.

May the soul of all victims of isayas rest in peace.

Lets hope the Woyanes would follow suit and notify the families of the many Tegaru migrants who had also perished on the same voyage.

Let us remember in our midst all the Eritreans (young, old, disabled, pregnant, widowed, orphaned) who died in the deserts and waters when we celebrate Christmas and new year.

These people took tragic measures to escape from isayas's castigation and failed to make it. They lost their lives in vain.
